a change of plans

most of you have heard by now that we had a change of plans with our schooling decision. while i was very excited about homeschooling, i had some reservations also. i was the most excited about having the kids here with me throughout the day and having that learning time with them. as this fall got underway...and maisy arrived...and i had some complications with that...and the house is under construction...and aaron ended up with a hernia that requires surgery...i was feeling a little overwhelmed (to say the least). adin was hearing about all of his friends being at school and was wondering what was up here. he was so bored...and i wasn't getting the time organized to get underway here. so, with much prayer and council, we made the decision to enroll him at shalom christian academy for this year. we decided on a thursday and took him down to register on friday so that he coud start on monday. this was his "orientation" day...he had a new backpack, lunchbox, sleep mat.
when we got to the school...his teacher took us to his room to show him around and get his area set up. it was grandparents day, so the kids had gotten out early and he was able to look around on his own.
adins seat at the red table. there are 2 girls from his sunday school in his class and he got to sit right beside one of them!
while this decision was especially hard for me, i know that adin needs a challenge right now and something that is just for him. i feel like a quitter before i even got started, but i felt at peace with this decision...which i know can only come as an answer to prayer.

  1. Hey, just wanted to let you know that you are not a quitter. And I completely understand your decision. I have thought it about many times for different reasons but the cost is a big deterrent. Hope you guys have a great year! :)

  2. It shows wisdom knowing when you can't do every thing. Bringing a baby into the family changes sooo much. We were basically in survival "just get it done" mode after Greta was born and we didn't have construction or any thing else going on. Think of it as a great opportunity for special Toby time before he turns into a Kindergartener too. :o)

  3. I have learned some of my biggest lessons, and received some of my biggest blessings, when I have made decisions that might look like 'quitting' to others but were exactly what God wanted me to do at that time! 'Not now' doesn't have to mean 'not ever' and hopefully you will all be able to enjoy your life a little more this year!
