toby's test

yesterday toby visited the doctor for some swelling in his neck. even though he didn't let on at all, he had some type of infection (ear/ sinus...not sure which) and is on an antibiotic. the swelling didn't seem to be his glands though, so we headed to the lab for a blood test to check his thyroid. mind you, we had to have blood drawn with him when he was about 2 and it was NOT a good experience, so i called in my mom for reinforcement. thankfully, we had 2 great phlebotomists that knew what they were doing with kids and it went so much better than expected! toby also got to visit the pharmacy and pick and drink and candy ahead of time...so, he had his pint of milk and tootsie pop in hand too! i did talk to him ahead of time so that he would expect the "pinchy pinch" and i think that him knowing ahead was a plus...he even watched...which is more than i can do. well, we got the call today that his little thyroid is NORMAL! so, we are thankful for that...now we give him antibiotics this week and he goes back for a recheck in 2 weeks. we are banking on him just having a chubby neck right now and are so thankful that nothing further needs to be tested with his thyroid!
