applesauce...made, frozen, GOOD!

on friday, my mom, sister, and i started the day by going to bb's...my favorite grocery store. i believe the line is "bumped, bent, bargains" or something like that...anywho, it is cheap and i get a ton of food there every other week! when we got back from shopping and lunch, it was time to make applesauce! mom got our apples from a local orchard and i borrowed my friend heidi's mill and we were ready to roll. applesauce is not hard to make and it actually goes really fast. you just wash, quarter, and cook the apples...then mill them through. my mom manned the washing and cooking.
me and ronita cut and milled. adin was very excited to turn the handle and did very well helping!
this was the first few turn and him seeing applesauce coming through!
he kept at it for awhile...then got interested in cartoons! we ended up doing 2 bushels of apples and getting 32 quarts of applesauce. it is really good! i think that this will complete my storing up this summer. it has been a lot of learning and a lot of fun. i will look forward to doing it all again next year...and even more!
toby was feeling the worst this day...so, he didn't get to participate much. :(
here the boys are showing off their lollypops from bbs...sometimes i even surprise myself with what i let them pick these days!
