sunday projects

we finally got to church after 2 weeks off for sicknesses! when we got home, aaron headed out to a soccer game and me and the boys "rested"...that means they didn't have to go to bed, just to the couch! the next project on my list was to recover the dining room chairs. mind you, i have only seen this done on home makeover shows...but felt confident that i could do it. so, i headed to jo-ann fabrics...a store where i am generally completely lost. luckily my mom knows it like the back of her hand, so i called her ahead of time and she directed me over the phone! with material in hand and a shiney new staple gun, i headed home to do this thing.
as always, i had a lovely assistant!
the one on the right was our old chair seat...BADLY stained. we bought light colors before kids...had we only known! the one on the left is the new seat.
this picture reminds me of many vivid memories of my mom when i was growing up. she sewed for a living when i was young and i always remember her with material spread out all over the floor cutting out patterns. it is insane how much we are similar to our parents.
finished! i am so proud that i accomplished this. i really feel like i can do things if i just try it. and if i screw it up, well, who cares?! when we finished this, and after aaron was done screaming at the cowboys for their pathetic loss, the boys were looking for yet another project. i didn't have much in mind, so we just melted chocolate and dipped everything that we could find into it...cookies, marshmallows, bananas....
these boys know what to do with chocolate and sprinkles!
a tired crew! one cartoon, then off to bed...
