labor day picnic

labor day 2009...would love to have been in "labor", but since that didn't happen, we filled the day with other things! first we went to the parade in chambersburg and met up with some friends, then we headed to a family reunion. the reunion was held at my uncles house (mom's brother)...the boys barely made it through lunch till they were off exploring the farm with all of their cousins. my uncle had a surprise for everyone...he had been working for awhile on a tractor that was my grandfathers. he had it totally restored and painted and waiting for a hayride. so, the boys loaded on and were ready to go!

after the hayride, we asked if we could see the chickens. he is a chicken farmer and it is always fun to see the 100s of chickens! there were 14,000 in there at this time...they are "laying" chickens. granted we don't know much about chickens...but he always fills us in on the details! this was a disinfecting powder that you had to step in before going in the chicken house...
toby was saying "hi chicken" and "coochie coo" and other greetings...adin was just checking it out!
we spent the rest of the afternoon visiting. i sat on a chair most of the day while aaron played volleyball. the boys came and went. it is so nice to be on a farm where they can just go play...in the dirt, rocks, swings, and bikes!
we got ice cream to round out the day and it was time to head home.
i gave my dirty little farm boys a bath and we had some pizza and it was an all around good labor day! now...next monday...that will be my "labor day"!
